For the fifth day of Christmas, I'm giving my son some books on his favorite subject:
Star Wars.
On the fifth day of Christmas, my mama gave to me
Five awesome books
Four favorite friends
Three love notes
Two chocolates
And a special cookie just for me
Okay, so Star Wars doesn't exactly shout "Christmas." But my son is and has been obsessed with Star Wars for a while. And any stories that have to do with good triumphing over evil and love winning out over hate are okay in my book, especially if they can get my little boy to read for an hour or more, both on his own and with me. And besides, I'm going to balance out his sci-fi lit with some traditional holiday stories, just to make sure we inject some of the spirit of Christmas into our holiday reading. What really counts is that we get to snuggle and read together.
