Earth Day is April 22. Do you have any activities planned with your kids?

Today, more than ever, everyone needs to pull together and do what we can to help clean up our planet. Grade-school age kids are old enough to understand how garbage and pollutants can damage the environment and threaten wildlife. They’re also better able to do things to make a difference, such as help recycle or conserve energy and water.

Some things you can do with your kids this Earth Day: Organize a clean-up at your local park, plant a tree in your back yard, or ask your child’s teacher about how you can help celebrate earth day in your child’s classroom.

For more ideas on how to celebrate Earth Day with your kids -- and make a difference year-round -- go to the Environmental Protection Agency’s "Earth Day Take Home Kit" site.

Another great source for kid-tailored information about the environment is PBS' Eeko World. It presents facts about topics like pollution and conservation in a fun, easy-to-understand way that will be digestible for a grade-schooler.
