Week One Assignments

Reading:

Take a trip to the library and choose three books.

  1. Mom or Dad read one book to you.
  2. Read one book with Mom or Dad's help.
  3. Read one book by yourself.

Join the Summer Reading Program at the library.

Math:

Start a summer money jar. Ask Mom or Dad to give you some change to add to the jar each day.

  1. Count the money and keep a running total of how much is in the jar.
  2. You can use a computer spreadsheet to keep up with the amount, or write it on lined paper.

Writing, Spelling, Vocabulary:

Write the grocery list. Ask Mom or Dad to tell you what is needed.

  1. Write the list on the computer or with pencil and paper. (Spelling doesn't have to be perfect.)

Write the menu for the family dinner three times this week. Ask Mom or Dad what's being served and post the menu on the refrigerator before dinner.

  1. You can write it on the computer or use markers and art paper.
  2. Decorate the menu with pictures or clip art.

The World Around You:

Make a daily family schedule. Use a poster board and write it in the form of a grid, with the hours of the day down the side and family members' names across the top.

  1. Write down what each family member does at each hour of the day.
