Sep 8 - Start the Party!

If the children have a recess before the party, this is the perfect time to set up the snacks and games. If not, get the teacher's permission to quietly slip in and begin your party preparations. Put prize and favor sacks in a prominent place to build the excitement. If possible, have the class move desks into a circle to make room for games.

Start the party with a fun game. The activity level of the game depends on the the size of the classroom and the teacher's patience. At the very least, kids should be able to get out of their desks and sit in a circle on the floor. While one parent leads the active game, the helper should distribute the craft or quiet game materials to the children's desks or tables.

After the first game, direct the kids back to their desks or tables for the second activity. This can be an art or craft activity, or some sort of printable game sheet. The purpose is to let the kids quiet down a bit for snack time. While they play at their desks for a few minutes, plate the snacks for each child.
