Step-By-Step Guide to the Perfect School Party

The key to a successful school party is to keep it simple. Children are excited and active on holidays and party days at school. A simple and familiar party structure works best for everyone. You need three basic things for a school party - games, snacks, and favors. The room is usually decorated and there is no need for invitations. You'll find lots of ideas for the games and snacks online; and, you can order bulk quantities of inexpensive favors at a number of novelty toy sites. This basic school party can be adapted to any holiday and any age.

Step 1 - Meet with the Teacher

A few weeks before the party, meet with your child's teacher. Share with her your plans for the games, snacks, and favors to get her approval and suggestions. Make note of any restrictions on games or activities in the classroom. Finalize the time for the party and any school rules and procedures you need to know.

Get the names and phone numbers of the other parents in the class. Recruit a helper or two. You may also ask other parents to contribute snacks, prizes, and favors.

You will also need a list of the children in the class to plan the party and personalize the favor bags.
