Preserving Vacation Memories

Make a Vacation Memory Book with Kids

for About.com

Kids of all ages enjoy making their own vacation memory book on special trips with the family. Even young children can glue mementoes and dictate stories for mom or dad to write in their vacation memory book. Older kids may draw or write their experiences on the trip and embellish their journal with postcards and photographs.

Look for opportunities on your trip to have some quiet time for your child to draw, write, and glue in his vacation memory book. If she has a hard time getting started, a few prompts will help her think of ideas for her book. Start by asking about her favorite or most memorable thing on that day. Let her draw and color a picture about it. Take plenty of photos. You can even print some favorites at kiosks during your trip.

Older kids love collecting and vacations offer lots of collecting opportunities. Take a shoebox or a small backpack to keep up with his collection of postcards or shells or other souvenirs from the trip. Crayola has a cute idea for making a souvenir suitcase from an athletic shoe box.

These ideas from the web will get you started in planning a memory book for your family vacation:
