Using Del.icio.us in Everyday Life

by Kimberly L. Keith
for About.com

I used Del.icio.us in my everyday work life, so I gave it a try at home. After all, food blogs were my jumping-off point to Web 2.0. Blogging, social bookmarking, wikis, tagging, images, and of course the voices of the new web draw the explorer in me to find inspiration for the journey.

Using Del.icio.us lets me keep the useful tidbits I find at my favorite blogs and web sites. I tag them in a way that makes sense to me. Then, I use them for reference and inspiration in my everyday life. Cooking, housekeeping, organization, games and family fun, homework help and reference, shopping, and the home arts are my favorite Del.icio.us homelife topics.

I also do research on topics I want to explore for the About Parenting of K-6 Children web site. My aboutchildparenting Del.icio.us goes deeper into my favorite sites and organizes the content that I especially like, tagged according to my personal interests.

It's easy to start your own Del.icio.us space. About Web Search tells you how. I've shared my university-work Del.icio.us elsewhere on the site, but this is my home-life Del.icio.us - aboutchildparenting. If you have similar interests, leave a comment to share your Del.icio.us life space.
