A quick guide to health and nutrition for busy families.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: Not much

Here's How:

  1. Soap! Buy a bottle for each sink and a big refill jug. Teach everyone to use it several times a day, especially when you come home, before you eat, and after going to bathroom.
  2. Eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetables each day. Find out what your family likes and keep it on hand at all times.
  3. Take a multivitamin each day.
  4. Laugh every day. Have fun. Let the little things go. Don't let the stresses of a busy life steal your joy while your children are with you.
  5. Rest. Some weeks that may seem impossible but don't let a hectic schedule go on without a break. Force yourself and your children to take a break even when you don't think you need it.
  6. Schedule regular well-child (and well-parent) check-ups. Many health insurance plans pay 100% for this type of preventive care. Take advantage of it.

Tips:

  1. The family computer mouse and keyboard seem to be great ways to spread germs. Try the new antibacterial wipes on the computer, phone, and door knobs to prevent spreading illness to the entire family.
