Halloween Costumes for Kids

by Kimberly L. Keith
for About.com

Halloween is a time for families to express their imagination and creativity. Imagination and pretend play help a child work through strong emotions, satifying his emotional need for a sense of power. A sense of power is crucial to healthy personality development, strengthening what psychologists call the 'internal locus of control.' So, listen to your child's fantasy about 'what she wants to be for Halloween.' Show her some costumes online and see what she picks.

My favorite costumes for kids are those with hero and fantasy themes. Plus, anything silly and fun is a great choice for little kids.
