Christmas Game for Kids - HO HO HO

by Kimberly L. Keith
for About.com

Materials Needed

  • 1 Large Sheet Red Posterboard or Tagboard
  • 1 Large Sheet Green Posterboard or Tagboard
  • Black marker, Scissors
  • Christmas stickers
  • Christmas baskets

Making the Game

Cut the red posterboard into 16 equal squares. Write the letters H - O - H -O - H - O on six of the squares. Place a Christmas sticker on each of the remaining 10 squares. Repeat with the green posterboard. Put the red squares in one basket and the green squares in the other.

Game Play

Arrange the children's desks into a circle for the party. Divide the class into two groups. One side draws from the red basket and the other draws from the green. Alternating between each group, let a child draw a square from the basket. If the child draws a letter square, he places it on the floor. The first team to spell out HO HO HO wins!

Give each child on the winning team a small treat or prize. If you have time to play the game twice, cross your fingers that the other team wins the second round. While one parent is leading the game inside the circle, another parent can pass out the children's refreshments from the outside.
