For the sixth day of Christmas, I'm going to give my son something he's been sorely lacking lately: time alone with Mom.
On the sixth day of Christmas, my mama gave to me
Six hours of "just-us" time
Five awesome books
Four favorite friends
Three love notes
Two chocolates
And a special cookie just for me
Right about now each year, I always find myself stressing about all the things that I have yet to get done. The presents that haven't yet been wrapped or even bought; the work that I have to finish before the holiday break; the laundry that (as always!) is piling up -- all while trying to juggle a bored child who's out of school on vacation.
But this year, I am going to slow down the holiday hubbub right after Christmas. Besides taking a long, hot bath -- which I am promising myself before the year is through! -- I am going to promise my son at least six hours of undivided attention, reading and playing Legos, and just doing nothing together. This year, our family is going to have a very slow and languid holiday break, and stay in our cozy pajamas as much as possible!
