Summer Family Planning

If your family, like mine, is facing an August of no summer camp and few ideas for how to entertain your kids, here’s a great suggestion I heard from a mom I know: Plan out some activities on a calendar.

Get a big calendar -- the kind your kids can draw on -- and plan out activities together. One day can be an outing to the beach; another can be to the public pool. If you and your partner can take some days off from work, you can switch off “Mommy Day” and “Daddy Day.”

Summer is all about family time. If you can give your kids special times to look forward to with you, everyone will benefit. Before you know it, summer will fly by. You may even continue the calendar idea into the fall and beyond.
